Thousands of students suceeding at the highest levels nationwide

"It’s an amazing thing, being part of two girls’ lives and helping them follow their dreams."

Rikki, Former mentee and current mentor

In 1991, six Wall Street professionals established Minds Matter in New York City to mentor high-achieving, low-income high school students who had the potential and ambition to pursue a college education, but who lacked the resources to achieve that dream.

The original goal was to gain admissions for these students to elite prep schools. However, the founders quickly realized that without the proper mentoring and support, these students soon dropped out. The organization then evolved to resemble the Minds Matter of today: an organization focused on both hard and soft skills, with mentoring at its heart.

Over the last few decades, Minds Matter has grown into a national organization with fourteen chapters across the United States in Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, the Twin Cities, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.

The Colorado Chapter was established in 2004 as Minds Matter Denver. Our chapter experienced phenomenal results with tremendous impact, and in 2019 we renamed ourselves Minds Matter Colorado and expanded our scope of services to the full Denver metro area.

The organization’s services have developed into a holistic multi-year program for high school students. Each year, students are guided through valuable lessons in academic preparedness, writing and critical thinking, and college-readiness test preparation.
